Dear Family and Friends,
I hope you are doing well! I want to let you know about an
amazing opportunity I have to travel and co-lead a team of
teachers and young adults to Rwanda this summer 2019!
We will be preparing and presenting professional development workshops for teachers who work with students from a school located in Kivu. Children in poverty face unique challenges so this summer we are also bringing a group of young adullts to partner with members of their community, doing work projects and meaningful team building activities. We want to build a bridge of relationships between our two cultures and serve where it is most needed. We will study Eric Jensen’s book, Engaging Children with Poverty in Mind, to help us prepare appropriate lessons to address the needs identified by the teachers in Rwanda. As we spend time with educators, students and community leaders, we will gain an understanding of the challenges they face and learn from their experiences. I look forward to this incredible service learning opportunity.
Each team member has been asked to raise $4200 to cover the expenses for this serving opportunity. I am wondering if you would like to be a part of this effort and help our team raise these funds? Because this is a volunteer service trip facilitated by the non-profit organization INGAGE Unlimited, all donations are tax deductible and can be made online at this website. Just select the Rwanda June team and you will find my name. I will send out an email following my trip. I’m sure I’ll be eager to share my experience!
