Late last year, I was presented with an opportunity to join a service organization going to Peru. Having recently retired, the timing was perfect! I have felt blessed with many riches in my life, and am eager to give back where I can.
As you can see, the sponsoring organization is INGAGE Unlimited. Its vision is to develop teams that can build collaborative relationships with partners in countries in need. The goal is to learn from one another and thus empower communities to effect positive change by sharing experiences, skills and resources.
My trip will begin on February 21st, when a group from INGAGE travels to Chiclayo, Peru, a coastal city in northern Peru. There is much poverty in Chiclayo. We will partner with local community and church leaders at Impacto Cristiano Church to provide leadership training to teachers. Additionally, we’ll lend support to them during their weeklong children’s outreach program, which serves approximately 150 children.
