Dear Family and Friends,
I am thrilled to share that through a variety of unexpected events, I now have the incredible opportunity to travel with INGAGE Unlimited again this summer! After my wonderful experience in the Dominican Republic last year, I was committed to serving again and Africa kept popping into my mind… Interestingly enough, a team was put together who will be traveling to Kenya the end of July. Although my broken ankle and the loss of function and income I have been experiencing caused me to think a trip of this kind was out of the question this year… the door opened and with the blessing and approval of my family and my surgeon - I am privileged to share that I will be joining the team traveling to Kenya this summer!!
INGAGE Unlimited is a non-profit organization whose mission is to offer cross-cultural team experiences to strengthen and build relationships with community leaders and educators while cultivating global awareness and fostering social responsibility. While in Kenya, we will be working with two educational partners. Our first destination is Kibera, the largest urban slum in Africa. There we will be working with the teachers from the Bringing Miracles School. Next we travel to the city of Naivasha to work with the teachers and students at Light of Hope Home - a residential facility whose mission is to provide refuge, restoration, and redirection for the abandoned, abused, orphaned and neglected girls of Kenya. Educating and empowering girls is key to ending global poverty. I am so excited to come alongside and work with the educators serving in these parts of Africa.
Like in past years, each team member has been asked to raise funds to cover the expenses for this serving opportunity. This money covers airfare, lodging and a limited amount of supplies needed for the teachers and students. Our team has been fundraising for some time and I am jumping in late to the game...but just in case you are interested and able, I am responsible for $4200… I would be most grateful if you would consider supporting me and our team - prayerfully and/or financially. Because this is a volunteer service trip facilitated by the non-profit organization INGAGE Unlimited, all donations are tax deductible and can be made online at the above website. Just select the Kenya Team, then look for my name to donate directly to my trip or you may donate to the trip in general. I will communicate via Facebook throughout the trip as I am able and will follow up upon our safe return.
