Dear Friends and Family,
I have the wonderful opportunity to travel with Ingage Unlimited to Kenya in June! Ingage Unlimited is a nonprofit organization that sends teams to communities around the globe to provide training in education, leadership development, and community health. This year a destination is Kibera, the largest urban slum in Africa, and we will be serving teachers at Bringing Miracles School. This school is in an area of extreme poverty, with approximately 600 students in preschool to grade 8. The school's goals are to provide education, nutritious meals and a religious foundation in order to empower students to become future leaders in their communities. The team will bring professional development workshops to help meet the academic and social/emotional needs expressed by the Kenyan teachers.
While I am fully funding my own trip, I hope to raise an additional $1,500 to provide direct support for the people living in Kibera. If you are able, here are some ways you can help:
- Make a donation with the link on this site.
- Write a check to Ingage Unlimited and send it to me.
- Send money through Zelle. (Please contact me directly for the Zelle information.)
- Donate teaching materials or supplies for the school and home visits, such as: Chalk, toothbrushes, travel size toothpaste, soap, washcloths, coloring books, crayons, playing cards, small balls, travel games, small toiletries, little teacher gifts, flashcards, counting materials and instructional classroom charts.
- If you are looking to get rid of a large, serviceable, wheelie suitcase, you can donate that to me, too. I will use it to bring your donations, and then leave it there.
Thank you so much for your generous consideration!
Sincerely yours,
Carol
